What is BoxxZen and how does it work?

BoxxZen is a secure package delivery receptacle – essentially a smart lockbox – that sits at your home or business to receive deliveries. It’s crafted from durable, upcycled materials and features a secure access system (digital keypad and/or mobile app). Delivery drivers place your packages inside BoxxZen using a code you provide (or other authorized method), and the box locks itself. You can then retrieve your package at your convenience. Think of BoxxZen as your personal mailbox for packages, only much bigger and smarter!

How does BoxxZen prevent package theft?

BoxxZen creates a safe, locked space for your deliveries, out of sight and reach of porch pirates. Instead of leaving parcels exposed on your doorstep (where anyone could grab them), carriers will place them inside the BoxxZen unit. Once locked, the box can’t be opened without the passcode or your key, so would-be thieves have no chance unless they bring a crowbar and a lot of determination (which, let’s face it, most porch pirates won’t!). By removing the “crime of opportunity” factor, BoxxZen dramatically reduces the risk of package theft – giving you peace of mind with every delivery.

What’s the difference between BoxxZen and BoxxZen XL?

BoxxZen is the standard model intended for residential use or small businesses – perfect for a household or single office that gets a moderate number of packages. BoxxZen XL is our larger, B2B-focused solution, built for locations with heavier delivery traffic or multiple users (like corporate offices, or logistics centers). BoxxZen XL has a much larger capacity and comes with enhanced features (e.g. Wi-Fi enabled keypad, mobile app integration, etc. to manage high volume and even handle multiple returns and pickups efficiently. In short: BoxxZen = “personal bodyguard” for your home packages; BoxxZen XL = “team security chief” for a whole facility’s packages. Both share the same DNA of security and sustainability, just sized and equipped for different needs.

Is BoxxZen weatherproof? Can it handle rain and snow?

Absolutely. BoxxZen is designed to live outdoors and laugh in the face of bad weather. Its construction is water-resistant and rust-resistant, so your packages stay dry and safe even during downpours or blizzards. No more soaked cardboard or weather-damaged goods. We’ve ensured BoxxZen is low-maintenance and tough. A little routine cleaning is all it needs – it won’t fade or break down from the elements. Mother Nature can throw what she likes at BoxxZen; your deliveries will still be snug and secure inside.

How do delivery drivers or couriers open the BoxxZen to leave packages?

Great question – after all, security shouldn’t come at the cost of convenience for your delivery folks. With BoxxZen, you have a couple of options:

Digital Access Code: You can provide a one-time or recurring access code in your online delivery instructions (for UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc. The driver enters the code on BoxxZen’s keypad, the door unlocks, and they place the package inside. Once shut, it locks again.

Smartphone/App Access : We integrated smart access features. In pilot programs, drivers or users can use a mobile app to unlock BoxxZen via Wi-Fi as long as their connected to the internet. This could be as simple as you remotely unlocking it for the driver once they arrive.

In all cases, the process is designed to be quick and easy for carriers, so it doesn’t slow down their route. We’re working closely with delivery partners in our pilot to ensure BoxxZen is carrier-friendly – so far the feedback has been great!

Can BoxxZen help with outgoing packages or returns?

Yes indeed! BoxxZen isn’t just a passive drop box – it can also simplify returns and outgoing shipments (this is where that reverse logistics magic comes in). If you have a package to return, you can place it inside BoxxZen and secure it, then share the access code with the pickup driver (just like for deliveries). Scheduled return pickups become hassle-free since the driver can grab the item from your BoxxZen without you needing to be home. For BoxxZen XL in business settings, this feature shines: multiple returns can be collected throughout the day and held securely for pickup, saving drivers time at the end of their routes and preventing pile-ups at the warehouse. In short, BoxxZen gives you a convenient two-way solution: packages coming in and going out are all protected.

Is BoxxZen made from sustainable materials?

Yes – sustainability is a core part of our mission. All BoxxZen units are made from upcycled or recycled materials, meaning we’re repurposing existing resources to create our product rather than relying on all-new plastics or metals. This reduces waste and supports a circular economy. So when you use BoxxZen, you’re not just preventing package theft – you’re also making an eco-friendly choice. We like to say it’s “where security meets sustainability”, as our design combines secure construction with eco-conscious materials. Does BoxxZen use any special technology?

Definitely. We’ve packed a lot of tech into this sleek box! Here are a few tech features:

Smart Lock/Keypad: As mentioned, BoxxZen has a digital locking mechanism – a keypad that can be programmed with PIN codes, and in the XL model, it’s Wi-Fi enabled for remote management. No need to hide a key under a mat or worry about someone copying a key.

UV-C Light Sanitization: This is a cutting-edge feature we’re proud of. Inside BoxxZen, we’ve integrated UV-C lighting that periodically bathes the interior (and packages) in germicidal light. This helps disinfect your packages, killing bacteria and viruses. It’s an optional safety feature especially appreciated during flu seasons or for those cautious about surface germs. (And don’t worry, it’s safely encased and used only when the box is closed and in between deliveries – so it’s completely safe for you and your packages).

IoT Connectivity: In pilot, BoxxZen units communicate events (like when it’s opened or if a package has been picked up) to a cloud system. In the future, this could integrate with apps to send you notifications – e.g. “Your package has been delivered into BoxxZen at 2:37 PM.” We’re working on making BoxxZen a smart part of your smart home/office.

How big is BoxxZen? Will my packages fit?

The standard BoxxZen is sized to fit most common package deliveries for a household – roughly about the size of a small trunk or bench. You could fit numerous small parcels or a couple of larger boxes (think of those big online retailer boxes) in one go. BoxxZen XL, on the other hand, is much larger – it’s practically a small shed!.  BoxxZen XL can hold many packages at once or very large items like oversized cartons. We will provide exact dimensions on the site (e.g., “BoxxZen’s  dimensions are 8 ft × 4 ft × 4 ft” ) so you can gauge the capacity. If you regularly get giant items, we’d recommend BoxxZen XL or multiple standard units – but for 95% of deliveries, the standard BoxxZen is more than enough. It’s like having the security of a post office box but at your own home, sized for today’s online shopping habits.

How do I install BoxxZen? Is it easily movable?

BoxxZen is designed for easy setup with minimal tools. For home users, installation can be as simple as placing it in a desired location (porch, by the garage,) and using the provided anchor kits to secure it to the ground or wall (for stability and security). It’s somewhat heavy (thanks to solid materials), but one or two people can manage it. We provide instructions and are working on video tutorials . For those who prefer white-glove treatment, our team can assist or provide installation services in certain areas.

Once installed, BoxxZen isn’t meant to be frequently moved – especially the XL (which is quite large and meant to be stationary). However, if you relocate your residence or office, you can uninstall and take BoxxZen with you (it’s your investment, after all). Just keep in mind to update your delivery instructions to the new spot! For renters, BoxxZen can also be a temporary setup (with landlord permission) that you later remove – it doesn’t require permanent concrete footings or anything (unless you choose to bolt it down for extra security). In summary: setup is straightforward, and while it’s not something you’d shuffle around daily, you can move it if needed.

What if a package is too large to fit, or if I have more packages than the Box can hold?

In the rare case you’re getting a mountain of deliveries on the same day (lucky you!) or an item that physically can’t fit, there are a couple of possibilities:

For multiple packages: BoxxZen can hold quite a few boxes, but if a courier finds it full, they might follow your backup instructions – such as ringing your bell, or if you’re not home, placing the extra package in a secondary safe spot. You can mitigate this by adjusting your delivery schedule or informing carriers to spread out deliveries (if possible). BoxxZen XL users likely won’t face this, given its high capacity.

For oversized single packages: If you ordered furniture or a giant appliance, BoxxZen might not accommodate it. In such cases, we recommend using specialized delivery instructions (e.g., ask the carrier to leave it in a shed or with a neighbor). These big deliveries are usually scheduled, so you’ll know to be home or make special arrangements.
One thing to note: We are exploring future BoxxZen size variants or modular designs (maybe BoxxZen Mega?) for customers who frequently get extra-large parcels. Our current focus, though, covers the vast majority of package sizes in e-commerce. If it fits through your doorway, chances are it fits in BoxxZen!

How secure is BoxxZen really? Could someone break into it?

We’ve engineered BoxxZen to be extremely secure against casual theft. It’s constructed from sturdy materials (think heavy-gauge metal and industrial-grade components) and has a tamper-resistant lock mechanism. The door and walls are reinforced – a thief can’t just kick it open or pry it easily. In fact, BoxxZen XL is built tough enough for high-traffic commercial areas, and that security carries over to the standard version too. Could a professional thief with power tools eventually breach it? Perhaps, given enough time and noise – but that’s a very unlikely scenario for porch theft, which is typically quick grab-and-go crimes. BoxxZen essentially removes the low-hanging fruit that thieves target. We also recommend bolting the unit down (optional but adds security) so it can’t be carted off. In pilots to date, we’ve had zero successful thefts from a locked BoxxZen. For added assurance, the box’s presence itself acts as a deterrent – it signals that you take security seriously, and thieves prefer easier targets. So yes, it’s very secure and will stop virtually all opportunistic package thieves in their tracks.

What if I forget my access code or lose the key?

Don’t worry, we have failsafes. If you forget your PIN code, you can use the master backup pin that comes with BoxxZen to open it (just make sure to store that pin in a safe place, not inside the box!). Once open, you can reset the code. If you forget the code (a worst-case scenario), you’ll need to verify ownership with us and we can guide you – it might involve a reset procedure depending on the model. For the smart models connected to the app, you could also unlock via your smartphone login (so forgetting the numeric code isn’t a big deal if your phone is authorized). We aim to make it user-friendly: you won’t be permanently locked out of your own box due to a memory lapse. At worst, there’s an inconvenience, but no lost packages. And of course, we’re here to support if such issues arise – our customer service can assist BoxxZen owners with these kinds of problems (possibly with a bit of friendly teasing if you locked yourself out 😄 – just kidding).

Is there a warranty on BoxxZen?

Yes. We stand by the quality of our product. We offer a warranty (details to be finalized, but likely around 2 years coverage) against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. This would be similar to industry standards. Our warranty will ensure that if anything fails due to manufacturing issues, we’ll repair or replace it. It won’t cover intentional damage, misuse, or things like someone trying to drive a forklift into it (please don’t do that!). We also can’t cover theft of items from an improperly locked BoxxZen (so do lock it!). But rest assured, BoxxZen is built to last, and we doubt you’ll need to use the warranty – it’s mainly there for peace of mind and to show our confidence in our craftsmanship.
